Correct spelling is important!

Towns and Venues are listed by postal district which is name of the town that’s above the county or postcode on an address. London is treated as a county so you’ll need to search for Camden Town or Peckham for example.

I work a solo artist as well as in a band. How should I register?
Quickly! Seriously though there is nothing stop you form registering as a solo artist and also as a band. If your name is also in the name of the band then mark you solo entry as “Your Name (solo)”. This will maximise appearances in searches and more people will see both entries.

How can I connect to your web site from my own site?
Easily! Just take the address in the window of the browser and paste it into your page.

How much of the country do you cover?
All of the UK!

You have asked for my address, will you publish it?
No, we need this information so as we can contact you if there are any problems and so as we can improve the service to you. We only publish addresses of public venues. If in any doubt, please see our privacy policy.

How come I search for a town or band and nothing comes up?
Firstly you need to remember to search by postal district. In London that will mean, for example, Camden Town or Peckham. It’s the name of the town that is above the county or postcode on an address. Secondly, gigears relies upon Bands or Venues registering so as they can enter the details of gigs themselves. If nothing is listed it’s because no-one has entered anything. Have a word with the bands or venues you know and tell them to get a move on! There’s lots of advantages and more to come!

What’s the difference between a listing and being registered?
Any band can enter the simple details of a venue and a venue can enter the simple details of a band. These details will then show up on the gig listings for that venue, band or town. When registered, a band or venue can add more details and be in control of their own gig listings. When a band or venue comes to register then they may be offered the simple details that someone else had put in. They should then accept these, add to them and hey presto, They’re registered! If the details are not familiar or don’t appear then they should continue and fill out the full details to register.

Why does a venue need to register its postcode?
Gigears is about encouraging people to go to gigs. Registering a venue’s postcode means that we can show a map of the venue so more people can find it. Good eh?
